Ginger Hug by Karen Hood

In 2004 Karen Hood made a quilt for Ginger White Maxwell. The 50″ by 60″ has multi-color, patchwork flower blocks and a large applique basket. The blocks are set on point. An antique red, white and blue floral toweling is used for the side triangles. It is machine appliqued, machine pieced and machine quilted.

The quilt was last seen in November 2004 in Embarrass, Minnesota. The quilter who had shipped it has placed a tracer with the shipping company. She had to wait thirty days before placing the tracer and was told that it could take another thirty days or more before it was acted upon.

Seed Packet Quilt

Nov 17 2004

Seed Packet Quilt by Susan Bowring Miller

Susan Bowring-Miller made a Seed Packet Quilt from a commercial pattern designed by Red Brolly (Brownwyn Hayes). The quilt was stolen from Amelia’s Online Patchwork Store in Mayfield, New South Wales, Australia on October 29, 2004. Susan works at the store and this was to be the sample quilt for the kits they were selling. Afterwards, Susan was planning on giving the quilt to her daughter, Stella, for Christmas.

The 40-1/2″ by 55″ quilt is made with Hannah Bella Fabrics. It has log cabin and court house step blocks along with hand embroidery of whimsical flowers, birds and cats. The embroidery is done with a 70% cotton and 30% linen mix thread in white “sienna”. One block has appliqued hearts. It is hand appliqued, hand embroidered, and machine quilted. There is ric rac on the inner border. There are twelve Suffolk puffs at the corners of the blocks (near the border). Susan used a pigma pen to label the quilt on the bottom right corner of the backing. She wrote her name, the date, and the designer. The backing and binding is a butterly mottled yellow cotton in one piece.

Please contact Susan through the Lost Quilt Come Home Page if you can help with the recovery of this quilt.

States and Stars by Marty Grey

Marty Grey would like to recover a States and Stars quilt that she made in 1992. The quilt was last seen in 1992 in Cleveland, Ohio when, in a fit of anger at an ex-girlfriend, her son gave the quilt away to a stranger.

The quilt is approximately 80″ by 80″. The main colors are red, white and blue. It is hand pieced and hand quilted. The quilt is made of state blocks. Each block is embroidered with the state bird and the state flower. The state blocks are set into star corners and banding. Fox and Friends

Jun 24 2004

Fox and Friends

In 2002, Fleur Grubits made a quilt for Ross Stewart using the “Fox and Friends” commercial pattern designed by Lynette Anderson of The Patchwork Angel. The quilt was on display at the Stewarts Sewing Machine Center in Tasmania, Australia when it disappeared during early December 2002. At the time of the theft, the quilt was not completely finished. It still had pins holding the binding down.

The picture shown here is NOT the quilt that is missing. It is the picture from the commercial pattern and has been used with permission.

The 64″ by 72″ quilt has an appliqued center surrounded by log cabin blocks, followed by another border of appliqued flowers and animals. The center panel consists of pumpkins, sunflowers, and a building. Underneath is a fox with a black bird on his back. This quilt incorporates fabrics from Nancy’s Harvest Flannels line. The quilt is machine pieced, machine appliqued and machine quilted.

If you have any information about this quilt, please contact Fleur through the Lost Quilt Come Home Page.
