Recovered! Lone Star Pennsylvania Dutch Quilt

Dec 10 2011

Teresa Fusco’s Lone Star Pennsylvania Dutch Quilt was last seen on September 3, 2011 at the Waterfront Restaurant in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. It became missing when the Conestoga River overflowed 41 feet and covered the restaurant, destroying everything. The quilt disappeared along with numerous oil paintings by other artists. It could not be found when all of the debris was removed, so Teresa believed it was swept away by the waters.

In December 2011 Teresa wrote, “My quilt has been found! My daughter went to work on opening day about 6 weeks after the flood, when she walked into The Waterfront Restaurant… she saw my quilt sitting clean and folded on the bar. How happy that someone found the quilt in the river, cleaned it and returned the quilt to the restaurant. It was well marked because it was hanging in the restaurant for sale.”

Yellow and Orange Lone Star Quilt Top

Mar 29 2011

Heidi Munroe last saw her Lone Star quilt top in January 2011. It was taken from her car in Ayer, Massachusetts. It was made in 1938 as a wedding present for her parents, but it had never been finished. Heidi saved it all these years, and she was taking it to show someone, when it was apparently stolen from the car.

The main colors of this quilt is yellow, orange, cream, and white. The design features one big Lone Star. There is no design on the fabric. The outer border may have been made from a sheet.

If you have seen a quilt top that fits this description, please contact Heidi at daisysmum81@aol.com.

Recovered! Lone Star Quilt Baby Quilt

Found Lone Star Quilt

Found Lone Star Quilt

This quilt was found amongst lost mail. It must have been separated from it’s packaging.

The quilt was listed on this site on March 8, 2010. Happily, just a month later, the quilt owner has now been identified and located! It will soon be wrapped around the little baby it was intended for.

Just a reminder: please attach mailing address, contact info, or return address to a quilt when sending it. Stitch on a label that can be removed easily by recipient, but not fall off with rough handling.

Orange Lone Star

Orange Lone Star

This orange Lone Star wallhanging was left behind at the Spring Quilt Market in Minneapolis, Minnesota in May, 2006. It is made with bright colors and the corner blocks are pieced with gold.

On August 14, 2007, Mark Lipinski wrote,

I CAN’T BELIEVE IT BUT SOMEONE FOUND MY QUILT AND YOUR WEBSITE HELPED ME GET IT BACK!!! I’m in shock. I don’t know what ever made me check your site after this quilt had gone missing almost 2 years ago! It’s amazing. In any event, THIS quilt has been found and returned to me this week. I’m speechless (and am writing an article about it).

1930′s Lone Star Quilt

Jul 18 2003

Back in 1958 Myrtice Manley placed her belongings in storage in Endicott, New York while she visited her parents in Alabama. Unfortunately she was never able to get together enough money to reclaim her things and she suspects they were eventually sold at auction. There was a 1930′s Lone Star quilt among the things placed in storage. Myrtice writes, “This quilt has great sentimental value…I certainly hope someone sees this and returns this quilt to me, although it has been over 40 years.”

Are you the person who can help make this miracle happen? The full-size quilt was made by Millie Stephens in 1932. It is made with florals and blues. There were over 800 diamonds used to make the star. The background around the star is blue. This quilt is hand pieced and hand quilted.

If you can help, please contact Myrtice at pamanley@charter.net.

Lone Star Quilt

Mar 01 2001

Linda’s aunt made a queen-size Lone Star Quilt for Linda’s grandmother. It was made out of very bright colors and the star had hot pink tips. She hand-quilted around the star. Her aunt passed away before her family could find it. Linda is still trying to find this quilt for her grandmother.

If you can help Linda recover this quilt, please contact her at Birdysew@aol.com.
