Adelaide Collection Sampler

Dec 06 2011

The Adelaide Collection Sampler owned by Michele HillMichele Hill has experienced the loss of two large shipping parcels, both lost by a shipping company. The two boxes have been missing since the first week of October 12, 2011. One box containing the single quilt was last seen in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The other box containing all the small items was last seen in Pemberton, Western Australia.

One of the items missing is “The Adelaide Collection Sampler,” shown to the left. This is an original quilt designed by Michele, made for her by Jill Gray, and quilted by Judy Simcock. It is 76-1/2″ by 76-1/2″. The main colors are burgundy and greens on a cream background. All of the fabrics are from the Adelaide collection by In the Beginning Fabrics (designed by Jason Yenter and Michele Hill). This quilt is fused and machine appliqued, machine pieced, and machine quilted. It was made in 2010. It is labeled on the back.

Trio by Michele HillOther items missing include several small quilts, cushions, a book cover, tea and coffee cozies, books, teaching materials, notes, photos, and fabrics. Fall Leaves Quilt

Apr 05 2011

Jackie Briggs wonders if anyone found her long-lost quilt. It was made by her grandmother or possibly great-grandmother. She last saw it in 1981 in Colorado. It was left in a chest which her father had made. There was a burlap covering, and other momentos were in the chest including items from her wedding and an old camera. It was left behind at a friend’s house when she had to move, but they do not remember what happened to the chest.

The quilt is tan on one side and brown on the other. Autumn-colored leaves are on the tan side. It is approximately full-size. It is hand stitched with a diamond pattern and the year 1937 or possibly 1837 is embroidered in a corner with the name. It had won a blue ribbon in the LA Fair.

If you found this quilt, please contact Jackie at jackiebrn@comcast.net.

Wedding Ring Quilt

Mar 30 2011

Bernita Parker hopes someone has found her missing quilt. It is a wedding ring quilt, larger than full size, but not as big as queen size. It is off-white with some red and some shirt fabrics. The quilt was made in 1955 by her grandmother, Sallie Mae Lewis. Her grandmother’s name is written in a upper corner. Her grandmother gave it to her for her twelfth birthday. The last time Bernita saw the quilt was when she moved from Eminence, Missouri to Effingham, Illinois in 1998. She thinks it may have blown out of the truck during the move.

Fans and Bookcase

May 28 2009

P. Suppa is hoping to recover two quilts that were stolen in 2001 from her mother’s room in the Morris View Nursing Home in Morris Township, New Jersey. The nursing room denied having seen it, but it disappeared about two weeks after she was admitted. Her mother’s jewelry was also stolen.

One quilt is a full-size fans quilt, made in 2000 using lavendars and seafoam blue. The seafoam blue is an upholstery fabric. It does not have a label, but her last name, “Frantz,” is written in bold black marker in one corner on the backside.

The second quilt, made in 1998, is also full-size. It looks like pieced books stacked on shelves. It has a black background and the books are multicolored. There are book titles and author’s names embroidered on the bindings of the pieced books. This quilt is also marked “Frantz” on a back corner.

Please contact Ms. Suppa through the Lost Quilt Come Home Page if you can help with the recovery of these quilts.
