Blue and White Quilt

Aug 17 2007

Margret Thomas is hoping to locate a family quilt that was sold at an estate sale in Whittier, California in 2005 after she suffered a stroke. Margret would gladly purchase the quilt back, if it can be located.

This king-size, blue and white quilt was made by Hannah Wells in the 1800′s. It has the family history and the date on the back side, written in black india ink. The label includes who it was made by and who it was made for. Names mentioned include Wells, Curtis, Parmelee, and Van Kleek.

Please contact Margret through the Lost Quilt Come Home Page.

Florida Estate Sale Quilt

Oct 17 2006

Marian Garber is hoping to find the owner of a quilt she bought at an estate sale. It had been left with a person near Valdosta, Georgia by the name of Dee Young (and Dee’s mother) to be hand quilted. The mother passed away and Dee left. The quilt is 80 percent quilted. Marian knows the owner is from Florida, probably Northern Florida.

If this quilt belongs to you, you can have it for what Marian paid for it at the estate sale. Contact Marian at [email protected] to identify it.

Hand Sewn Quilt Tops

Oct 07 2002

In July 2002 several hand sewn quilt tops were sold at the estate sale of Hattie Colvert in Marshall, Missouri. These quilt tops were sold without informing family members. Now, Hattie’s granddaughter, Robin Nuckles, is hoping to locate one or more of them.

Robin writes, “I never even got to look at them, but my mother did see a whole stack of pieced quilt tops in her closet. I really wanted to buy one because of the memories. My grandma taught me the love of quilting and I do not have one of these to remember her by.”

If you think you may have purchased one of these quilt tops, please contact Robin at [email protected].
