Recovered!
Allegheny Jam
This is the story of another quilt that was lost by UPS. It was lost on its way from the MQS show to its owner. The UPS tracking information only stated that the box arrived in Philadelphia and the contents were missing. This quilt was last seen on May 15, 2005 at the MQS Show in Overland Park, Kansas. It was made by nine quiltmakers in the McKinney Guild. Lynn Lasswell commissioned it for the Allegheny Friendship House in Philadelphia, PA. This quilt won a second place ribbon at the Dallas Quilt Show.
On May 27, 2005 the quilt was finally delivered to a next door neighbor!
The original design was inspired by Romare Beardon's work. This quilt is 64" by 58". The main colors are red, black, lavendar, green, and brown. It is machine pieced and machine appliqued. Heavy machine quilting adds dimension and texture to the piece. A label is hand appliqued to the lower right corner of the backing.
