Getting Your Quilts Appraised
Get an appraisal for any quilt that you especially value
The appraiser should be someone who has been specifically trained for appraising quilts. Ask for a resume of their qualifications if you are not sure of their expertise. If you ever experience the heartbreak of losing a quilt through neglect, theft or a disaster like a fire, you at least have a chance of being compensated for your loss if you have insurance and a quilt appraisal. Here are a few sources that may help you.
Update your appraisals every three years
Insurance companies will want to see a current appraisal if it is ever necessary to establish the value of your quilt.
