Dara Widner hopes someone might have found this crazy quilt. The quilt was made by Dara and Marlene Cochrane for Jewel Widner. The quilt was last seen in November 2013 at the home of Jewel’s parents. It was packed by movers and never delivered along with the rest of their household goods. Four other quilts were lost at the same time. They were moving from Arizona to Layton, Utah. Their household goods could be anywhere in between the two locations.
This quilt is smaller that twin size. The crazy quilt has extensive embroidery, buttons, laces, satins, t-shirts, and cotton fabrics. It also had fabric from Dara’s grandmother’s and sister’s wedding dresses, special baby clothes, and other personal fabrics brought to her baby shower. It is hand pieced and hand quilted. It has pink trim and backing. The label says, “Made for Jewel Widner by her great-grandmother Marlene Cochrane and grandmother Dara Widner, 2013.” The label is hand appliqued to the bottom right corner.
This pink and orange quilt was made by Dara for her granddaughter, Lillian. It is machine pieced and machine quilted. The label on the back says, “Made with love in every stitch for Lillian Beth Widner by her Grammy, Dara Widner.”
This blue and green quilt was made for Dara’s other granddaughter, Jewel. It is machine pieced and machine quilted. The label on the back says, “Made with love in every stitch for Jewel Kathrin Widner by her Grammy, Dara Widner.”
Another one of the missing quilts has a blue background with gold stars, and the label says something like, “Made by hand for Keith Widner’s graduation by Dara Widner.”
There was also a wedding quilt made by Dara’s mother, Marlene Cochrane. The label probably says something like, “”Made for Keith and Erin Widner in honor of their wedding by Marlene Cochrane.”
