Star Quilt

Please be on the lookout for this Star quilt made by Karen Scales. It is made with traditional star blocks using US flag fabric. It is 64″ by 84″. It was machine pieced and machine quilted in 2011.

This quilt was last seen on July 21, 2011 in Miami, Arizona. Karen mailed it to a friend in Fleetwood, North Carolina. On August 15 she received a letter with the mailing label enclosed stating it had become “separated” from the parcel. The label had been securely taped to the box (taped all the way around the box covering the entire label). It was obvious that it had been cut off with a knife. The address label showed up in Greensboro, North Carolina. Karen filed all the appropriate paperwork, including pictures of the quilt in case it showed up in the recovery center in Atlanta, Georgia, but she hasn’t heard a word since.

Karen made the quilt in memory of her brother, a retired vetran, after he passed away last summer. She decided to give it to the hospice nurse who helped her care for her brother during the last two months of his life.
