We all know that there are no guarantees in this world. You can do your best to protect the people and the things you love, but unexpected things can still happen.
So, who can you really trust?
You need to put your trust in God and God alone!
In the Bible, Jesus tells us, "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." (Matthew 6:19-21)
What is this treasure that you need to store up for yourself?
The treasure you need to obtain is the faith that Jesus is the only source of your salvation.
By ourselves we are all lost. There is no way you or I can get to heaven on our own. Not by being good. Not by doing good things. Not by being better than the next guy. The Bible clearly teaches that Jesus is the only way to heaven. In one place it says, "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved." (Acts 4:12)
So, what can you do?
Recognize your need of a Savior. Without Jesus we are all lost.
Ask God to forgive you for your sins and for not trusting in Him.
Place your faith in Jesus and ask Him to come into your heart.
The Bible promises, "If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9)
What do you do next?
Read the Bible to find out Who Jesus really is.
Don’t just blindly believe what someone else tells you, but find out for yourself.
Talk to God and ask Him to reveal Himself to you.
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart." (Jeremiah 29:11-13)

Where should you start reading in the Bible?
The Bible is a collection of sixty-six books, so you don’t have to start reading at page one and continue straight on through to the end. You can choose to start with any of those sixty-six books.
- Many people find it easiest to start in the gospel of John, which describes who Jesus is.
(http://bible.gospelcom.net/bible?language=English&version=NIV&passage=John+1) - Or, try reading 1 John, which tells all about God’s love for us.
(http://bible.gospelcom.net/bible?language=English&version=NIV&passage=1+John+1) - Others like reading the Psalms because the feelings and emotions expressed in the Psalms are so comforting.
(http://bible.gospelcom.net/bible?language=English&version=NIV&passage=Psalms+1) - I like to read Philippians because it tells how to live a joy-filled life.
