Debbie Holmberg asks that you be on the lookout for her missing Grandmother Flower Garden quilt. On July 22, 2014, it was in a locked vehicle parked at the Space Needle in Seattle, Washington. The vehicle was broken into and the luggage was stolen. The quilt was inside the suitcase. A police report has been filed regarding this theft.
This full size quilt is made with 30’s reproduction fabrics and old scraps from the 1950s. It has a label has pictures of a woman who pieced the blocks; one picture of her as a young woman and one when she was elderly. The blocks were hand pieced, the setting is machine pieced and it is machine quilted. It was finished in 2013. The label is one of the blocks used in the quilt. It reads:
Mary Ellen(Cosbey) Schenck Born on November 22, 1861. The Grandmother Flower Garden Blocks were hand sewn by “Ella”. She was a farm wife and later moved to Moorhead, MN where she lived until the age of 94 in 1956. Pieced by Debbie Holmberg Highlands Ranch,CO Quilted by Carol Willey Castle Rock,CO 2013
