Daylily Onepatch

Nov 01 2010

Daylily Onepatch by Ann Maley

Daylily Onepatch by Ann Maley

Ann Miller Malley hopes someone has found her Daylily Onepatch quilt which she made in 1994. The quilt belongs to Tom and Suellen Knight. It was stolen from their seasonal home on St. Simon’s Island, Georgia when they were not in residence. It was last seen sometime around 1996.

Ann’s quilt is 66.5″ by 51″. The main colors are yellow, orange, red, and green. It is machine pieced, hand appliqued, machine quilted, and it has beading at the center of some of the flowers. Except for the borders, every piece is a curved, half-petal/leaf shape. This became Ann’s logo and she used it on her stationary and business cards. This quilt has a label sewn to the lower right corner on the back. It has Ann’s name, the name of the quilt, and probably something about it being an original tessellation.

If you know anything about this missing quilt, please contact Ann at [email protected].

Memories of a Child

Oct 19 2010

Memories Of A Child by Annita Dias

On July 12, 2010, Annita Dias posted a quilt from Paraburdoo, Western Australia to Dubai. It was made for her niece who has autism. The quilt never arrived. The post office said that once it left the country they could not track it.

This is a queen size quilt which Annita named “Memories of a Child.” It features a Sunbonnet Sue blocks. The background is plain and the colored blocks have green and pink borders. The pink border is the “pink breast cancer fabric.” This quilt is machine pieced, machine and fused appliqued, and machine quilted. There is also some embroidery on it. The label says something like “Memories of a Child / My Darling Tanya / from your loving Aunty Buddu.”

Annita writes, “If some one has or has seen this quilt please return it. I made this quilt for my niece who has severe autism. It has drained me emotionally as i took a lot of time and effort in making it especially for my niece Tanya.”

If you find this quilt, please contact Annita at [email protected].

Pink, Navy, and Tan Ohio Star Quilt

Oct 01 2010

Ohio Star by Teresa Fusco

Ohio Star by Teresa Fusco

Teresa Fusco of Reading, Pennsylvania was traveling, lecturing, teaching, and exhibiting her work from Washington, DC to Northern New Jersey when she realized this quilt was missing.

The 75″ by 75″ Ohio Star is a beginner’s rotary cutting sample quilt used for teaching. Teresa had just finished the quilting and sleeve, but she doesn’t think it had a label on the quilt yet. The Rotary Cutting Pattern can be found in the book “Block Party”.

The backgrounds are pale pink and tan nine patches and medium pink border triangles. The Border is dark navy blue/black. The visual block design is large Ohio stars in navy and browns with smaller stars in navy tan/browns as the middle blocks. Teresa first noticed the quilt missing in November 1999.

There is a reward for the return of this quilt - no questions asked. If you have any information regarding this quilt, please contact Teresa at [email protected].

Jason’s Quilt

Oct 01 2010

Jason's Quilt

Jason's Quilt

Ronda Covey hopes that someone found the quilt that her mother, Barbara (AKA Granny B), made for her son, Jason. The quilt was last seen in 1999 on I-70 between Colby, Kansas and Hays, Kansas. They were traveling along I-70 when the bag that the quilt was in was sucked out of the bed of their pickup truck when a semi passed them. The normally four-lane, divided highway was down to two lanes on the east-bound side, so by the time they were able to turn around and go look for it, they couldn’t find it. They couldn’t stop immediately because of road construction. This quilt was very important to Jason and he was devastated.

This is a king-size quilt. It has forest green strips around the nine-patch blocks. There are four large squares in the middle that Barbara called “Overall Sam” or it may be called “Suspender Sam.” They were made from Ronda’s grandfather’s overalls. The quilt is machine pieced and tied. Along one side, Barbara machine embroidered “Jason - Granny B 1998.” There is also a red heart embroidered on it.

If you’ve seen a quilt that fits this description, please contact Ronda at [email protected].

Thangles Quilt and Table Topper

Sep 22 2010

Thangles II by Judy Currie

Judy Currie reports that two of her quilts have been lost during shipment. They were sent from Clayton, North Carolina to Virginia on June 10, 2010. Unfortunately, they were never delivered and the shipping company cannot give Judy any information except they “think” her package was sent to the “slow mail” distribution center in Greensboro, North Carolina. Judy filed a claim that was sent to Florida where they send packages that are undeliverable and have not had any results.

The lap quilt, above, is 60″ by 75″. It has the Thangles II label as shown below, bottom left.

The table topper, below center, is approximately 36″ across and it is an octagon. It has a hand written label sewn to the back, bottom right.

If you can help with the recovery of these quilts, please contact judy at [email protected].

Noah’s Ark Baby Quilt

Sep 21 2010

Noah's Ark Quilt by Cheryl Hartzog

Cheryl Hartzog is asking for help finding a Noah’s Ark Quilt that she made for Sherry Payne’s baby.

This crib size quilt is 47″ by 60″. The main colors are pastels combined with a speckled bright green and bright purple. It was last seen during October 2009 when it was mailed from Live Oak, Florida to Indianapolis, Indiana. The recipient had moved but forgot to give Cheryl a change of address. The recipient went to her old residence and she said it looked like quilts were hanging in the window.

Teddy Bear Quilt by Daisy Schoonover

Another quilt (below) featuring teddy bears was sent at the same time. This quilt was made by Cheryl’s mother, Daisy Schoonover.

If you find either of these quilts, please contact Cheryl at [email protected].

Quilt of Valor

Sep 18 2010

Quilt of Valor by Barbara File

Barbara File hopes it is still possible to recover her Quilt of Valor quilt. It was shipped on July 6, 2010 from Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey. It was received by a transfer station in Pennsylvania and sent out to Dover Air Force Base, Delaware, but the tracking was never updated. Many calls were made before she was told it was in a fire, but now no one knows anything about a fire on a truck. Barbara wonders if it has been stolen.

This is a large, lap-size quilt. It has a red border, blue sashing, yellow cornerstones. The blocks are red and blue Churn Dash. She used a fabric with red and blue stars on white for the background. It has a label on a lower corner with Barbara’s name.

If you’re able to help, please contact Barbara at [email protected].
