Mother’s Double Wedding Ring

Jan 22 2011

Bobb Swope is asking for help in finding his deceased mother’s Double Wedding Ring quilt. The queen size quilt has a white background. The rings are made from various scraps leftover from clothing she had made for her six children. The quilt is hand pieced, hand appliqued, and hand quilted. In one corner is “DS” for Donna Swope” and “1969″ for the year Bobb was married. The quilt became missing during a move sometime around 1998.

If you’ve seen a quilt that fits this description, please contact Bobb at [email protected].

Quiltmaker’s Documentation form revised

Jan 17 2011

Quiltmaker's Documentation Form

Quiltmaker's Documentation Form

After valuable insights from some generous quilters (thanks Karen, Sandra, and Margaret!), I made some revisions to the Quiltmaker’s Documentation form. If you downloaded one yesterday, you might consider downloading the new form today. The file has the same name, so it should overwrite the previous one if you save them both in the same place.

The new form includes space for sales information and appraisal information. I made some other additions and modifications, too. And then I entertained myself by playing around with some finicky details, which made me happy and hopefully made the form nicer to look at and easier to understand.

Also, I just learned about a website where you can upload any PDF file and fill it out online. That will give you nice, neat typed writing instead of handwriting, if that’s important to you. If you have a Facebook account, you can save, print, or revise the entered information, too. The website is called PDF Filler, http://www.pdffiller.com/. No affiliation, etc.

I hope you will find the form useful. Again, please feel free to distribute it to your quilting friends.

Quilt Documentation Form

Jan 16 2011

Quiltmaker's Documentation Form

Quiltmaker's Documentation Form

I just added a free Quiltmaker’s Documentation form to the informational page called “Documenting Your Quilt” which is under the “Protecting Quilts” tab above. If you are a quiltmaker, I encourage you to take the time to document your quilts. Your written documentation becomes so important if your quilt becomes missing, but it is also valuable for your family. As someone who has a father with Alzheimer’s Disease, the things he took time to write down have become such a treasure.

Please feel free to make copies of this quilt documentation form and distribute it to your friends, your quilt guild, or wherever you like. May your quilt never be among the missing!

Nintendo Quilt by Jackie Clegg

Nintendo Quilt by Jackie Clegg

Jackie Clegg would like to recover the Nintendo quilt she made for her son, Dan. It was last seen sometime around 2002 in her home. She believes it is possible that a former family member may have sold it or discarded it.

The quilt was made in 1989. It is machine pieced and hand appliqued. The Nintendo characters are freehand machine embroidery. It is about 60″ by 80″. The blocks are muslin. The sashing is purple. The hand quilting is done in red and ecru.

This quilt was one of Jackie’s first quilts that she made as a special gift for her son. It has sentimental value and she would offer a reward to get it back. If you have seen this quilt, please contact Jackie at [email protected].
