Men’s Suit Fabric Quilts

Feb 20 2007

Sue Lambur hopes to recover a quilt made by her great-aunt, Emily Gerfen. It is a strippy quilt using leftover wool fabrics from men’s suits. Her aunt was a tailor by trade. The main colors are greys, blacks, and some red. The backing is light grey. It is about 84″ by 84″. It was hand pieced sometime around 1930-1940 and it is tied with red yarn, she thinks. It is a very heavy quilt. Sue last saw this quilt during December 1998 in Crestwood, Missouri. It was lost during a move.
