World War II Patch Quilt
Cynthia Landecker is asking for help locating a World War II Patch Quilt made by her mother, Mrs. Lucille Jones. It was made for Cynthia's brother, Wesley Jones, and is the property of his widow, Lois Jean Jones of Texas. This hand pieced and hand appliqued quilt is about 72" by 72" It has a wide variety of patches including every US Army patched used during WWII, including the US Air Corps. The WWII patches were arranged by Army units.
The main colors are khaki and olive green. The back of the quilt was made from rayon linings used in Army uniforms. The quilt was signed by most of the prominent WWII generals including Eisenhower, MacArthur, Mark Clark, etc. The signatures were then embroidered in red, white and blue by Mrs. Jones. It was made around 1945-1947 and the signatures were collected through 1952.
This quilt was last seen around the spring of 1970 at the US Army base in Erlangen, Germany. It was stolen off of the wall of Maj. Wesley G. Jones, Battalion Commander, Third Battalion, 51st Infantry. Major Jones was Cynthia's brother.
If you know anything about this quilt, please contact Cynthia through the Lost Quilt Come Home Page.
