Recovered!
Winnie the Pooh Quilt
On September 30, 2003 Janienne reported the good news, "With tears of joy I'm glad to report our quilt has been found along with the antique nursing blanket! Whoever found them at the airport in Anchorage, Alaska stuffed them in a box and labeled it 'blankets.' After several months of being on their shelf the airport was ready to donate all of it. The person in charge, thanks be to God, was a fellow quilter who didn't have the heart to donate it without trying to locate the maker." The good hearted airport employee looked up the name on the label in the phone book and the quilt was reunited! This was the first time Karen Wegg had ever labled a quilt she made.
On June 18th, 2003 Janienne was struggling to get on an airplane with two small children. In the process, Marleigh Elizabeth's Winnie the Pooh quilt was dropped either in the airport at Seattle, Washington or Anchorage, Alaska.
The quilt was made by Karen Wegg in November 2002. It is slightly larger than crib size and the main colors are purple and white. It is machine pieced and machine quilted. The Winnie the Pooh characters and flowers are machine embroidered on blocks. The middle block says "Marleigh." The quilt does have a label which includes the date it was made. The label is sewn to the back corner of the quilt.
