Waltzing at the Black and White Ball

On November 1, 2002 "Waltzing at the Black and White Ball" was stolen from the Yale Art Space in the Yale Physician's Building in New Haven, Connecticut. The quilt, measuring about 31" by 31", was made by Tristan Robin Blakeman. The colors are black, white and gray as shown in the photo to the left. It was machine pieced and machine quilted in 2002. The quilt is not labeled.

Even though this facility has extensive security systems, the theft occurred during gallery hours. Police theorize that the thief sliced through the hanging sleeve to quickly remove it from the hanging device.

If you have any information about this theft, please contact Tristan at [email protected].
