Vermont Quilt Store Theft
On June 24, 2005 three quilts were brazenly stolen from The Newfane Country Store in Newfane, Vermont. The quilts were removed from the display and the thief escaped through a door that is usually not used and is kept bolted shut.
"Sasano Claremont Salvia," above, was made by Pamela Hill. It is 104" by 124". The main colors are olive green, cream, and black. It is machine pieced and hand tied. It has a label with Pamela's signature and the date 2002 is embroidered on one of the borders.
Vera Herrington made the Grandmother's Flower Garden shown to the right. It is 68" by 87". It is hand pieced and hand quilted. It has a label on the front of the quilt with the name of the quilt, the size and the price. Vera is in her 90's and still does everything by hand.
"Moda Hanky" was made by Faith Evans. It is 92" by 109". It includes reproduction hankies by Moda and assorted floral fabrics. It is machine pieced and machine quilted. It has a label sewn to the lower back corner which says, "Dream Quilt Original, 2005, Faith Evans."
If you have any information about any of these quilts, please contact Marilyn Distelberg through the Lost Quilt Come Home Page.
