The Dancer (Oil Painting)
Although this is not a quilt, it is posted because it is a piece of art which needs to be found.
This oil painting, owned by Margo Gill-Linscott, was painted by her father in 1929 while he was attending the Chicago Art Institute. "The Dancer" received a first place awared in the Chicago World Fair in 1933. The painting was shipped via UPS on March 27, 2006 in League City, Texas. It was being sent to Mountain View, California but it never arrived. Margo has been contacting UPS very proactively, trying to recover her treasured painting, but UPS has not been able to find or even track this item.
The painting was shipped in a handmade, wooden crate approximately two feet wide by four feet tall by three inches thick. The address was written directly onto the wood crate with a Sharpie(r).
At one point, Margo was told that UPS considered the investigation closed and wanted her to submit a claim. However, Margo is not interested in compensation; she wants her painting recovered!
If you can help in any way, please contact Margo Gill-Linscott through the Lost Quilt Come Home Page.
