Storm At Sea

In 2000 Marilyn Kesler made a blue Storm At Sea quilt for her 6 year-old grandson. On December 13, 2000 she mailed it, along with other Christmas presents, from Salem, Utah to England using the US Postal Service. It never arrived. Marilyn reported the loss and repeatedly checked with her local post office to no avail. Marilyn also spoke to the manager of the post office, and filled out a Mail Loss and Rifling Report (PS Form 1510), but the quilt still hasn't been found. This box also contained a machine pieced wall hanging of Santa faces and pine trees.

The Storm At Sea quilt was sized to fit a bunk bed. It used a wide variety of navy blues, light blues and whites to give it a scrappy look. One fabric Marilyn used a lot is a navy pin dot. This quilt is machine pieced and hand quilted. It has a label that says, "Storm at Sea Made in 2000 for Kenny Downs." The label is ironed on. The picture shown above is identical to the original quilt. Marilyn had made one for each of her grandsons' bunk beds but the second quilt wasn't finished when the first one was sent.

Marilyn writes, "I feel the quilt and the contents of the box is out there still, but am stumped as to how to proceed further. Any help you can give is appreciated."

If you have found this quilt, please contact Marilyn at [email protected].
