Quilts Lost During Shipment
Barbara A. Stewart of Jupiter, Florida entered three of her originally designed quilts in the September 2000 Jacksonville Quiltfest held in Jacksonville, Florida. After the show they were shipped back to her via the US Mail, but they were never delivered.
Aftermath, top picture, is 45'' by 55''. It was designed by Barbara as a statement about being careful not to start forest fires. This quilt has a label sewn on the back with Barbara's name, address, phone number, year and size of quilt. The quilt has an airbrush painted background with thread painted animals and machine quilting.
What People Reach For was made for a triangular challenge. It is about 18'' across the top and about 21'' long. This quilt has a label sewn onto the back.
Jupiter Lighthouse, middle, is a miniature quilt 6-1/2'' by 8-1/2''. This quilt has a line of information written in permanent ink on the back of the quilt all along the bottom next to the binding. This quilt is made entirely by hand.
Barbara believes all three quilts were sent in one box since that is how she originally shipped them to the show. She was given the shipping date and insurance number by the show organizers, but she still has not been able to find these quilts.
If you can help Barbara locate these quilts, please contact her at [email protected].
