Shawnee Quilters Banner
The Shawnee Quilters of Southern Illinois are searching for their quilt guild's banner. It was hanging in the front of the room at our June 15, 2007 luncheon at the Lions Building in Carterville, Illinois. When the luncheon was over it was accidently left hanging at the front of the room. By our July 2007 meeting it was gone. We have asked all groups who meet in the building and the Lions membership if they know what happened. Several people admit they saw it hanging in the front of the room. No one has admitted knowing when it was taken down and who did it or what they did with it.
The guild's banner was in the 2000 AQS show in Paducah. Later that year in won a first place ribbon at the River Heritage Quilt Show in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Both the participation ribbon from Paducah and the blue ribbon from Cape were still attached to the front of the quilt. The banner was made by Robin Haller, Sherrie Grob, Pat Cochran, Phyllis Swanson, Joyce Wisely, Lois Cravens and possibly others. It is about 42" square. It has a four patch border with landscape design inside. A capital Q is in the middle of the landscape with trees on either side, a stream flowing through the middle of the Q forms the tail of the Q. Machine applique large label in the bottom corner opposite the stream has Shawnee Quilters in large script.
