Seed Packet Quilt
Susan Bowring-Miller made a Seed Packet Quilt from a commercial patter designed by Red Brolly (Brownwyn Hayes). The quilt was stolen from Amelia's Online Patchwork Store in Mayfield, New South Wales, Australia on October 29, 2004. Susan works at the store and this was to be the sample quilt for the kits they were selling. Afterwards, Susan was planning on giving the quilt to her daughter, Stella, for Christmas.
The 40-1/2" by 55" quilt is made with Hannah Bella Fabrics. It has log cabin and court house step blocks along with hand embroidery of whimsical flowers, birds and cats. The embroidery is done with a 70% cotton and 30% linen mix thread in white "sienna". One block has appliqued hearts. It is hand appliqued, hand embroidered, and machine quilted. There is ric rac on the inner border. There are twelve Suffolk puffs at the corners of the blocks (near the border). Susan used a pigma pen to label the quilt on the bottom right corner of the backing. She wrote her name, the date, and the designer. The backing and binding is a butterly mottled yellow cotton in one piece.
Please contact Susan through the Lost Quilt Come Home Page if you can help with the recovery of this quilt.
