Santa Fe Quilt

Agnes R. Mikel spent many loving hours creating this queen-size quilt for her daughter's wedding. She used the Santa Fe block that was part of Judy Martin's block of the month. She used bright southwest colors. The center stands for the sun and the mountains form a pinwheel. It is machine pieced and hand quilted. She embellished the quilt by embroidering "Randy, Amy Heil, June 29, 2002, Mom, Dad." She started the quilt in August 2001 and finished it April 17, 2003. The next day she brought it to Alta Mesa Cleaners in Mesa, Arizona. That was the last time she saw it. On April 22 someone broke into the dry cleaner and stole her quilt along with some other items.

Agnes writes, "I am just heart broken, as it was only my second quilt I ever made, and it was to be for our daughter's wedding present. I didn't know that you needed to appraise them, and I had no idea that it would be stolen at the cleaners."

If there is any way you can help, please contact Agnes through the Lost Quilt Come Home Page.
