Rose Medallion
Gayle Anderson needs your help to recover her Rose Medallion quilt. She spent ten years creating this masterpiece. When it was finished, it was accepted into the 2002 International Quilt Festival. It was stolen on October 24, 2002, during the set-up for the show. The show is held at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas. A second quilt was stolen at the same time.
This quilt is an original design based on a compass medallion. It is 92" by 99.5". The main colors are rosey pink/peach, greens and warm rust. It has alternating squares and diamonds in the quilting design and intricate quilting motifs derived from pieced roses in the center of the star. It is machine pieced and hand quilted. The label says, "Designed and Pieced by Gayle Anderson, 2001; Quilted by Terry Young. The label was hand appliqued to the lower right corner of the back.
If you know anything about the disappearance of this quilt, please contact Gayle through the Lost Quilt Come Home Page.
For more information about these thefts, please read the official response from Karey Bresenhan, Director of the International Quilt Festival.
