Recovered!
Rascal, A Bronze Wing Pionus Parrot
Linda Hill lost an original quilt on December 23, 2003. She was traveling from Prescott, Arizona to San Bernardino, California on Highways 89, 71, 60 and Interstate 10. The quilt was flat-wrapped in Christmas paper, then enclosed and taped inside a white trash bag. It was on top of the car, sandwiched tightly with bungee cords between two large, flat boxes. Upon arrival in California, the boxes had not moved, but the quilt, wrapping, and trash bag were all gone.
On January 13, 2004 Linda got a call from an Arizona state employee who was working on the highway. He spotted the white trash bag still in perfect shape. He found the name on the quilt's label and started making phone calls to locate the owner. On the second phone call he found Linda. She rejoices, "So God does answer prayer, and He heard mine!"
The quilt is a stained glass parrot, about 24" by 36". It has royal blue framing. The parrot is brown, orange and royal blue. There are also orange flowers. Linda used 1/4" and 1/8" bias tape to simulate the stained glass leading. The backing has a parrot print. A label is fused to the lower left corner of the back. It says, "For Gail Jones, lovingly, by Linda Hill, 2003." The quilt is machine appliqued and machine quilted.
