Two Quilts Lost by Airlines
Jill Olver of Higgens, ACT, Australia wanted to give each of her sisters-in-law a special gift when she visited them after a twenty year absence. She made each one an original quilt using traditional aborignial fabrics. She packed them in her suitcase for the flight to Zimbabwe. Sadly, her suitcase was lost by the airlines. It is believed the suitcase arrived in Johanesburg, but the connecting flight to Victoria Falls was cancelled and Jill was put on a different airline. The luggage never arrived even though it had been booked from Canberra to Victoria Falls.
Both quilts are about 60" (1.5 meters) square. They are made with a variety of earth colors including traditional aboriginal fabrics. They were both made in 2002 and they have labels. Jill last saw her quilts on April 10, 2002.
