Pinwheel Quilt
Several years back, Marlene (Mikki) LaCombe made a Pinwheel quilt for her aunt who was dying from cancer. She used dark blue, pink, green and a multicolor fabric printed with tiny circles, squares and crescents. The 36" by 48" quilt was hand pieced and hand quilted. She used embroidery thread to quilt in the ditch. There is a label sewn on the back that has Mikki's name and address. It may also have said, "Made for Aunt Nunnie (Bernadette Robinson)."
This quilt was last seen around 1995, possibly at St. Joseph's Hospital in Paterson, New Jersey or around Levittown, New York. The quilt may have been dropped in the hospital parking lot in New Jersey. Mikki writes, "This was my first attempt at making a quilt, so the sewing would be average, with mistakes. The quilt was to go back to me when my Aunt died (1995) and it has tremendous sentimental value to me."
Please contact Mikki at [email protected] if you have seen this quilt.
