Three Missing Round Robin Quilts
Three round robin quilt tops have disappeared. They were all last seen in August 2002 when they were sent from Stevens Point, Wisconsin to a participant in Vancouver, Washington. They were supposed to be returned by October 2002. Repeated attempts to contact the quilter have gone unanswered.
Nikki Ross made a Tree of Life center block for the beginnings of her quilt (left). It is surrounded by corner blocks featuring the sun, a bird, a fish, and some critters. Her daugher put on the first border which was made of 6" log cabin blocks and pinetree cornerstones. The center block uses a dark "camping" print in browns and greens for the tree and a cream print for the background. It was about 48" square when it was last measured. This quilt top may have a second border on it now.
Danae Shari started with a red and navy Jacob's ladder block (right). The navy fabric has silver band instruments printed on it. The first border is the corner blocks. Two have suns and two have the moon and starts. The second border is half-square-triangles in red, white and blue. This quilt top was 40" square when it was last seen. It may have another border added by now.
Desiree Ross used four blocks to create a three-dimensional lattice pattern (left). She used black, yellow-gold, red, and dark blue. The yellow-gold fabric is a German style "fractur" or "Pennsylvania Dutch" type print. The blue fabric is a brocade-type print. This block was 24" square when it was last seen. It should have two borders added to this block.
If you think you can help with the recovery of these round robin quilt tops, please contact Nikki, Danae or Desiree through the Lost Quilt Come Home Page.
