Recovered!
Memories of Dad and Florida
Susan Schutz was missing a quilt that she thought was mistakenly put in a donation pile. She last saw the quilt, "Memories of Dad and Florida," in San Diego, California during the summer of 2008.
In April 2009 Sue was joyfully reunited with the quilt. She writes, "Thank you! Indirectly you helped me find my quilt. After I posted the information with you and you so kindly got it uploaded I was more compelled to talk about the missing quilt. It turns out that a family member had it hidden away and suddenly felt guilty about keeping it. They did not realize how emotionally important the quilt was to me. It was suddenly returned."
The quilt is a large lap size, predominantly blues and bright tropical colors. Some of the fabrics have fish, skies, and water. The block squares are assembled in the lengthwise direction of the blanket, so when the quilt is laying long the back of a sofa you can see the pictures. It is machine pieced and machine quilted. It has a label on the back which says something like, "For Dad with love from Susie 2004."
