Mariner's Compass Round Robin
In 2000 Kate Acosta participated in an online round robin sponsored by the Quilt Lover's and Fabric Addict Yahoo! group which Kate founded. She made a Mariner's Compass center block and other members were to add borders to her original square. Kate used hand dyed fabrics and commercially printed fabrics to foundation piece the center block. The light cream fabric around the mariner's compass is a print with a very light "2000" printed on it.
The quilt top was eventually sent to a participant in Union, Oregon. She acknowledged she received it, but it was never returned. Kate thinks at least two other borders had been added before it this person received the quilt top.
Kate wrote, "It hurt me so much to lose that as it was the most beautiful piecing I've done so far. But I tried all I could to get her to return it without success." Kate even offered to pay postage for the return trip. It is believed that this woman also has another quilt top from the same round robin.
If you can help recover this quilt top, please contact Kate at [email protected].
