Let the Fun Begin
"Let the Fun Begin" was made by Nancy Branch for the Mateel Community Center of Redway, California. It was on display at the June 2007 Summer Arts and Music Festival at Benbow Inn near Garberville, California. It disappeared after the festival while it was still on festival grounds.
The quilt was made for the Mateel in thanks for all the charity work they do for the children and elderly in the community. This large three-dimensional quilt shows children playing music, crafters and other artists, redwood trees, the river, and sky at the top. Dancers are holding a banner which says "Summer Arts and Music Festival." The pink border has black silhouettes at the corners and the quilt has black binding. The background is green with appliqued figures and crafts surrounding a multicolor inner border. Nancy used embroidery, painting, beading, lace work, three-dimensional work, and cut work.
There is a label on the lower back which is fused, hand appliqued, and sewn into the binding. It has the quilt's name, the name of the community center, Nancy's name, and April Sproule's name (the quilter).
Please contact Nancy through the Lost Quilt Come Home Page if you have any information about this quilt.
