Four Landscape Quilts
Four landscape quilts have been shoplifted from the Yankee Pride Quilt Shop in Champlain Mill, Winooski, Vermont. The quilts were made by Kay Vascik. They were last seen in 1999. Each of the quilts are labeled on the back with the title, name and date written in Pigma pen.
Signs of Spring is shown in the top left. It is 24" by 28". The main colors are soft greys, tans, greens, and blues with a mauve border. Some fabrics are from the Nancy Crow collection. There are embroidered geese in the sky. This quilt was made in 1996.
Autum Splendor, made in 1996-97, is shown on the top right. It is 14" by 24". The main colors are browns and fall colors with teal and chocolate brown borders. Some Hoffman leaf fabrics were used. Groups of leaves were cut fro the fabric and arranged so the blue of the original fabric was not showing. Some leaves extended into the border on the left side.
Home is in the bottom left. This 8" by 11" quilt was made in 1996. The main colors are forest greens, blues, browns and birch-like fabric with forest blue-green borders. Some hand-painted blue fabric was used. The same green fabric was used in different ways for texture, birch bark, and frigned green fabric for moss/grass.
Mallet's Bay Sunrise is the quilt in the bottom right. It is 24" by 30". The main colors are blues, pinks, oranges, and yellow with navy blue, gold and orange borders. Hoffman water fabric and Sky Dyes hand painted fabric were used as well as silver lame fabric. The sailboat was embellished with embroidery thread and ripples of light on the lake were made with silver thread. This quilt was made in 1998.
