Horse Wall Hanging
In March of 2005 Patty Latourell sent her granddaughter a quilted horse wall hanging for her ninth birthday. The 16" by 25" wall hanging was mailed from Ventura, California with a delivery confirmaiton receipt and it arrived in Elverta (a suburb of Sacramento, California) with the confirmation saying that it had left the post office. It was never delivered and when Patty had the postmaster check, they had a weekend person working who could not confirm where the package went. Patty did not buy extra insurance, so she was told there was nothing more to do. She did send the posmaster a photo and asked him to post the photo on the bullentin board of the post office, but she never heard anything more from him.
The horse head was pieced from batik and machine quilted. There is a label sewn to the back saying, "To Emily from Grandma Patty for your 9th birthday."
