Missing Grandmother's Quilt
Julia Herwehe is searching for a full-size quilt made by her grandmother, Grace Spoon.
The quilt is an original design consisting of three rectangles sewn lengthwise to complete one block.
These blocks are set alternately with a plain block in between. The quilt is made with scraps and the middle
rectangle of each block is a multicolor polka dot fabric. It was hand pieced and hand quilted in the late
1960's or early 1970's. There was a piece of paper pinned to it which says, "Grace Spoon for her granddaughter
Julie Vaughn" and the date. This was the last quilt her grandmother made and she was in her 90's.
Julia last saw the quilt in her home in the early 1990's. She believes the quilt was sold to an
antique dealer or flea market dealer in central Indiana. Please contact Julia if you can help her recover this
quilt. You can reach her at [email protected].
