Governor's Quilt
Cathy Blanchard made a quilt for Governor Charlie Crist and his family to honor him in becoming Florida's 44th Governor. It was last seen on January 28, 2008 at the Hilton Hotel, Carillon Center, St. Petersburg, Florida. Hotel staff members and the Governor's staff were questioned, but the quilt could not be found.
Five and a half months later the story had a happy ending. Apparently it was inadvertantly taken from the hotel that evening by an aide from the McCain campaign, and put on their bus. Months passed until one day when one of the McCain daughters got cold. The quilt was taken out of a closet, and they finally realized what they had. They took it back to their Sedona ranch, and sent it back to St. Petersburg. It is now with Governor Crist.
Cathy sums it up wonderfully by saying, "PS I cannot stress how important it is to label your quilt! All of the paperwork with this quilt had gotten misplaced--the label told the story."
