"Fourth of July" and "Memories of Indonesia"
Mary Ellen Wooderson is hoping to recover two of her quilts which were on display at the Kay County Fair in Blackwell, Oklahoma. They were stolen from the exhibit on September 16, 2007. Another quilt was stolen at the same time. All three were blue ribbon winners.
"Fourth of July" (left) was pieced by Mary Ellen and quilted by Suzy Taylor. It is 75" by 58". It is made with mostly blues and bright batiks. Mary Ellen used the Fourth of July pattern designed by Judy Neimeyer. There is a hand written label on the lower right corner of the backing.
"Memories of Indonesia" (right) was also made by Mary Ellen and quilted by Suzy Taylor. This quilt is 58" by 75". The main colors are black and a multicolor rayon batik from Indonesia. It is an original design featuring pieced colored tiles set in black with brown accents. Each 4-inch square was pieced individually in a separate design. This quilt has label that says, "Memories of Indonesia for Tamela Daniels, made by Mary Ellen Wooderson with fabrics from a business trip to Indonesia." The backing of this quilt is faux suede.
The third quilt is approximately 50" by 50" and has blocks with various colored ducks on a white background. The border has a cattail design fabric and it is backed with various shades of blue.
Please contact Mary Ellen at [email protected] if you can help recover either of these quilts. Information may also be reported anonymously to Ponca City Area Crime Stoppers by calling 580-762-5100 or e-mailing [email protected]. You may be eligible for a private cash reward of up to $1,600 if the information you provide leads to the location or return of these three items in pristine condition. The private reward is offered totally independently and separately from the reward up to $1,000.00 offered by Ponca City Area Crime Stoppers.
