Flowers of Love for Laura
Deb Hardman's son, Brandon Price, made this original quilt for his girlfriend, Laura Cool. On August 5, 2003 it was mailed from Laura to Deb so it could be hung at the Alaska State Fair. The quilt was stolen right out of Deb's mailbox. The empty envelope was found in a ditch below the mailbox on August 8.
This was Brandon's first quilt and he made it to tell Laura he wanted to marry her. It was a gift to her and a promise for a ring later when he could afford it.
The quilt has dimensional appliqued fireweed, lupine, daisies, and iris. The background is hand painted. It has a lavendar heart floating prominantely on a peach and yellow sky with gree grasses along the ground. This quilt is about 28" square. Brandon used free motion machine quilting with sparkley threads. The quilt is bound with a plaid rayon fabric. It is signed in the lower right corner of the front and it has a personal note to Laura on the back written with Pigma pen directly on the quilt.
