Curry, Turmeric and Paprika
When Connie Brown sent her quilt, Curry, Turmeric and Paprika, to the Folk Art Center on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Asheville, North Carolina, she never expected that it would be stolen from the sales floor. Unfortunately, that's exactly what happened. The quilt was last seen on September 3, 2002. The quilt had been put in with the shop's regular stock. When the manager when to get it for a display, it was discovered missing.
This quilt is an original design. The center star explodes into four Ohio Stars in the corners. The stars have checkerboard centers. It is 35" by 35". The fall-colored quilt consists of olive greens, yellows, and coral turquoise accent. The binding is made from several of the fabrics used in the main quilt design. The backing is yellow with brown and coral splotches. It is machine pieced and machine quilted using gold sliver thread in spiral designs. Connie made the quilt in July 2001. There is a label that is hand appliqued to the lower left corner on the back. The label has the quilt name, and Connie's name and address.
