Cross Stitch Quilt Wall Hanging
After combining several different cross stitch quilt patterns Susan Milburn had completed a unique wall hanging of a sampler quilt. She embellished it by adding five Amish dolls in cross stitch at the bottom. Each doll represented one of the five daughters in her family. The Amish girls were from a Cricket Patch publication. The cross stitch was signed "S. Milburn" at the bottom.
The cross stitch sampler was to be a gift to Susan's mother for Mother's Day. One April in the early 1990's, she brought it to a Lee Wards store (now closed) to choose an appropriate frame. While she was at the Memorial City shopping center in Houston, Texas, the cross stitch fell out of the package she was carrying it in. Susan advertised in the Houston paper and she also phoned many of the Milburns in the Houston area in an effort to recover this cross stitch.
Countless hours of love and care went into this work of art. If you have found this cross stitch wall hanging, please contact Susan at [email protected] or [email protected].
