Common Threads of Texas
Sometime before or during 2003, a second place quilt called "Common Threads of Texas" became missing. It was possibly lost in transit or while it was on loan. The quilt is owned by the Texas Department of Agriculture. The photo shown at left is the first place quilt. It is not the quilt that is missing, but the second quilt had many similar characteristics.
This was a competition quilt where each block was submitted by a different Texas quilter, and each depicts agriculture, farm, and ranch life in Texas. This quilt has twelve brightly colored blocks, some with a cloud background. It is sashed and bordered in dark green. Some blocks include wool, mohair, and/or leather. It was quilted by Alice Griggs. There may be a label listing the names of the twelve winners. The quilt was made in 1997.
If you've seen a quilt that fits this description, please contact Mary York through the Lost Quilt Come Home Page.
