Bow Tie and Lone Star Vintage Quilts
Two vintage quilts were stolen from Dixie L. Kaufman's booth at the International Quilt Festival in Houston, Texas. Both quilts are owned by Leonard Vaughan and were on consignment. The quilts were discovered missing on Sunday, November 3, 2002.
The 1920's Bowtie Quilt is 76" by 78". It has a pink chambray background with assorted prints and colors including many grays, checks and plaids. It is hand quilted with very small, even stitches.
The Lone Star quilt is 78" by 88". It has a white background. The star is predominately pink, yellow and blue. The borders are pink and red. All of the fabrics are solid colors. The background is like feedsack fabric. It was made in the 1930's or 1940's.
A police report has been filed regarding these stolen quilts. If you know the whereabouts of either of them, please contact Dixie through the Lost Quilt Come Home Page.
