Bird Quilts

On Friday, July 31, 2009 three quilts were stolen from a mini-exhibit at the Berea Arts Council Gallery in Berea, Kentucky.

The Cardinal quilt, above, was made by Dianne Stinebrickner. This original design is approximately 15" by 17". The main colors are red and black. It is machine pieced, machine appliqued, and machine quilted. The bird was thread painted with numerous colors to create a realistic bird. There is a label on the back with Dianne's name, the name of the quilt, date completed, etc.

Pat Cheshire Jennings made "Bluebird Branch," shown to the right. This quilt is 9-3/4" by 10-1/4". The background fabric is hand dyed and quilted to further enhance the background. The bird is intensely thread painted. The branch includes silk leaves that have been sewn and then quilted down. This quilt has a label on the back bottom corner with Pat's name and the name of the quilt.

Pat Cheshire Jennings also made "Chickadee's Visit," shown to the left. This quilt is 10-1/4" by 12". The chickadee on this quilt is also densely thread painted. It also has a label sewn to the lower back corner.

Please contact the Berea Arts Council at [email protected] if you have any information regarding these quilts.
