Two Quilts Stolen From Apartment

While their owner was serving aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise in the Persian Gulf, two quilts were stolen from his apartment in Norfolk, Virginia. The quilts were made by Marcia Gilbreath. These quilts were stolen sometime between April 2001 and December 2001.

Flag Appreciation, shown above, is a queen-sized, red, white and blue quilt. The border was done by fusing water color squares to create a random pattern. Back of Flag Appreciation QuiltThe backing, shown to the left, is blue with off-white stars. This quilt is machine pieced and machine quilted. The label includes the maker's name, Marcia Gilbreath; the recipient's name, Christopher S. Gilbreath; the year, 2000; and the phrase "Serving his country aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise." The label was hand appliqued and machine quilted down.

Denim QuiltThe second stolen quilt is a double-bed sized, Denim Quilt. The front of the quilt is made of denim rectangles in many shades of blue and black. The backing is a rose and navy striped polar fleece. The back also has a "foot pocket" folded and stitched in. This quilt, made around 1998, is machine pieced and tied. It also has a label with a similar inscription to the one described above.

If you have any information about these quilts, please contact Marcia at [email protected].
