Absolut Pennsylvania and Joy to the World
Margaret Cusack is searching for two pieces of stitched artwork which are missing. Both pieces of art were in the same box. They were last seen on May 2, 2008 at the FedEx office in Maspeth, New York. FedEx had last listed it as "on vehicle for delivery" but it was not delivered and it is no longer in their system.
The first, "Absolut Pennsylvania," was commissioned by Absolut Vodka to use as an advertising poster. In the center is the Absolut Vodka bottle in yellow with hand-embroidered, blue lettering. Above the bottle are the words, Absolut Pennsylvania. The stitched image is very quilt-like. The colors are yellow, red, and blue. The bold yellow diamond shapes include symbols of Pennsylvania including a pretzel, the Liberty Bell, a guitar, an I-beam (for the steel industry), a folk art weather vane, etc. This stitched artwork is 28" by 34", and it is labeled on the back of the framed artwork with Margaret's information and the artwork's title. It is framed in a white wooden frame and the front of the artwork is protected with plexiglas
The second piece of missing artwork is called "Joy to the World." This piece is similar to a Norman Rockwell painting that includes profiles of his neighbors. Margaret's image was commissioned by Harcourt for "The Christmas Carol Sampler," a book of holiday songs. It includes faces of her daughter, friends, and relatives. The faces are naturalistic colors. It has a colorful red border is an African-like print fabric. It is framed by a brown wooden frame and the front of the artwork is protected with plexiglas. This work is 31" by 26". This artwork was made in 1983. It is also labeled on the back of the framed artwork with Margaret's information and the artwork's title.
