Scrap Patchwork Quilt

In 1973 Shirley Gauthier made a patchwork quilt for her son using 3" squares of mixed fabric scraps. Some of the fabric scraps were tropical prints and some were from children's shirts and dresses. The clothing scraps were left over from clothes Shirley had made for her family. Some of the tropical prints had been collected from overseas. The full size quilt was hand pieced and hand quilted. The quilt was last seen in 1982 in Alexandria, Louisiana. Her son, then stationed at England Air Force Base, was moving to Guam. He gave away his couch and the quilt was accidentally left in the bottom of the couch.

If you have seen a quilt that matches this description, please contact Shirley at [email protected].
