LaQuita Tummings reports the theft of six quilts. They were in the trunk of a car that was stolen on February 1, 2014. The car was recovered but the quilts were not returned. The quilts were last seen in Oakland, California.
“Seasons” is an original quilt that is 33″ by 33″. It is hand pieced, hand appliquéd, and hand quilted. There are seed beads quilted in the border. This quilt was made in 2008. It has a label in the shape of a leaf.
“Goddess” is 33″ by 33″ is hand appliqued. The main colors are browns and greens. The face is created with colored pencils. It was made in March 2012. It is labeled on the back.
“Tea Party” is an original design. It is 28″ by 28″. It uses a yellow on tan (ugly) fabric. The flowers are extensive beaded and quilted. It was all done by hand. LaQuita made the quilt in December 2008. It is not labeled.
One of the other missing quilts is called Mystic Journey. It is an original design. This multicolor quilt is 54″ by 55″. It features seed and felt embellishments. It was made in 2000. It is labeled on the back. The label has a wheel with the signs of the zodic as well as charteristic of each sign.
Two other quilts were stolen at the same time.
