Jan is wondering if anyone might have seen her missing quilt. It features light purple and a variety of other fabrics. The quilt features a barn, a brown horse, a girl and boy holding hands, all appliqued on. The boy and girl had yarn hair that was looped. This is not a “polished” quilt, but likely considered folk art. By quilting standards, it would be considered crude.
The full size quilt was made by her grandmother, Mildred Peterson in the early 1970′s. It was last seen in the summer of 1984 in Columbus, Minnesota. It was lost in an abandoned house on 164th Lane in the mid 1980′s. A girl had run away from home, and she was staying at the house. Jan brought her this quilt to keep warm. Somehow, she never went back to get the quilt. Jan writes, “It is my hope that somehow - some way - that it found its way somewhere. And someday it will find its way back to me.”
