Around the Pinetree Quilt Top

Round the Pinetree by Carol M. Hesselink

Carol M. Hesselink designed an original Around the World quilt with a Pinetree medallion quilt. The Pinetree medallion is a 12″ square in the center of the quilt top, surrounded by the Around the World pattern. She named the 64″ by 81″ quilt “Around the Pinetree.” She made a matching pillow cover that measures 41″ by 25″. The main colors used are pinks, greens, brown and gold. Some of the fabrics used include a light pink one with roses, a pink and brown paisley, a rose/green/brown print, a pink/gold/brown leaf print, a brown and white print, a dark brown fabric with roses, a dark green print with bees, and a greyish-green print with pink flowers and checks. Carol finished the quilt top in late summer 2002. She used a pigma pen to sign it in the bottom right corner, “cmh2002.”
On September 11, 2002 she set it from Amsterdam, New York. She was sending the quilt top to Sage, Arkansas to be quilted. When the box reached its destination, there was a hole in the box and all that was in the box was the batting that had been sent with the quilt top and its backing (the greyish-green print with pink flowers and checks) and the pillow cover with its backing (a beige with brown dots).
Carol has filed a claim form. However, the value of the quilt top, the pillow top and the backing fabric was more than three times what she insured it for. The claim has not been settled yet. Obviously, Carol would much rather recover her quilt top.
Carol concludes, “I’m not going to let my joy of designing and making this quilt be stolen. I’m trusting our God knows where it is.” If you can help with the recovery of this quilt top, please contact Carol at cmhCreations@bww.com.
