Raggedy Hearts and Stars by Cindy Vogler

Raggedy Hearts and Stars by Cindy Vogler

On January 3, 2005, Cindy Vogler sent a quilt to her husband when he was deployed. She shipped it from the Evans, Georgia. At some point, it was removed from the box and the contents were repackaged in a smaller box with the custom and insurance labels inside. Her original printed address label was cut off with a piece of the box still attached and used on the smaller box. Her husband received everything else she mailed her except the quilt and a small yellow pillow.

This is a twin size quilt made of all flannels. The main colors are red, white, and blue. The appliques are all stars except for one heart in the middle. It is machine pieced and machine appliqued. Cindy made the quilt in 2004.

Please contact Cindy through the Lost Quilt Come Home Page if you find this quilt.

Embroidered Animals

Missing
Feb 26 2007

Darlene M. still hopes she will be reunited with her long lost baby quilt. In a time of crisis, she and her mother had to flee and leave all of their possessions behind. Darlene hopes that the quilt turned up at Goodwill or some similar store, but she suspects it could have been thrown away. The quilt was last seen in 1982.

This is Darlene’s baby quilt, made by her great-aunts. It was given to her mother when she was born. The blocks are embroidered with cute animals. Darlene believes it is mainly white and yellow and the embroidery is probably done in a single color, possibly brown with a few accent colors. There was a line-drawn animal in each block. There may have been about six blocks total. Her name and birthdate are embroidered on the quilt, “Darlene, April 23, 1966.” Her middle name, Marie, may have also been included.

If you find a quilt that fits this decription, please contact Darlene through the Lost Quilt Come Home Page.

Six Family Quilts

Missing
Feb 13 2007

Cathy Nelson reports the theft of six quilts that were stolen from her father’s home in December 2006. The stolen quilts include a double wedding ring with a yellow background, a single wedding ring, a log cabin, a fan quilt, a Dresden plate, and a bear claw. The quilts had been stored in her mother’s cedar chest in their rural home in the area of Belleville, Wisconsin. The home was burglarized when her father was recovering from lyme disease in an assisted living home. The thieves took only valuable antiques.

All of the quilts are traditional designs and she believes they were all full bed size. The quilts were scrappy quilts dating from 1900 to 1929. All of them have muslin backgrounds except the double wedding ring with the yellow. All are backed with plain muslin and are hand pieced and hand quilted. Her grandmother used Morning Mist batting, so they are quite thin. She believes that her grandmother’s initials, along with the date, are embroidered on the lower right front. Her initals were C.S. before marriage in 1905 and C.G. after marriage. All of the quilts were in pristine condition.

Pastel Basket Quilt

Missing
Jan 15 2007

No one knows what became of it after she passed away. Jodi has been searching for it, but no one remembers taking it. It was on her great-grandmother’s bed when she was a little girl and she remember sleeping under it many times. She is hopeful she could recover it because it would have extreme sentimental value to her.
