Pastel Basket Quilt

Jan 15 2007

Jodi Longobardo is searching for a Pastel Basket Quilt that was made by her great-great-aunt or her great-great-grandmother. It was owned by her great-grandmother. No one knows what became of it after she passed away. Jodi has been searching for it, but no one remembers taking it. It was on her great-grandmother’s bed when she was a little girl and she remember sleeping under it many times. She is hopeful she could recover it because it would have extreme sentimental value to her.

Jodi’s quilt is full to queen size. The main colors are pastel yellow, white and other pastel colors. It is hand pieced and hand quilted. Jodi last saw this quilt around 1980 at her great-grandmother’s house in Morrisville, Pennsylvania.

Green Embroidered Quilt

Dec 05 2006

Green Embroidered Quilt by Christine Hindle

Green Embroidered Quilt by Christine Hindle

Christine Hindle is hoping to find the green embroidered quilt she made in 1968 when she was a teenager. She last saw it in 1974 when she sold it because she was stranded and in need of funds. She is hoping to buy it back from the woman’s descendents, if she can locate them. The quilt was sold in Rhode Island. Christine hopes it might still be there since many families have lived there for generations.

This is a full-size quilt made of embroidered blocks set with 1930′s style solid green fabric and hand quilted. The blocks are white with rust, apricot, brown and light green embroidery. If it is labeled, it should have the name “Ingerson” on it.

If you have seen this quilt, please contact Christine through the Lost Quilt Come Home Page.

Sailor Son

Dec 05 2006

Sailor Son by Vicki Crawford

Sailor Son by Vicki Crawford

Vicki Crawford made a very special quilt for her son, Philip Crawford. In November 2003 she mailed it to him. It was delivered outside of his apartment in Visalia, California. Someone (a stranger) signed the recipient’s name for the box, which also contained some household items. Philip went door to door questioning the residents. The police were contacted. The local newspaper even wrote an article about the theft and printed a picture of the quilt, but it was never recovered. Sortly afterwards, Philip was relocated by the Navy. However, this quilt has enormous sentimental value, and the family still hopes it will be returned.

This 68″ by 80″ quilt was adapted from the “Random Stars” pattern from Celebrate the Seasons with Quilts. It has a variety of 3″ to 12″ stars. The main colors are red, white, blue, and tan. All of the stars are made of patriotic fabrics on tan muslin background. It is embellished with four Navy patches: Top Gun, Navy Symbol, Oceana VA, and NAS Pensacola. On the label, Vicki wrote an original poem to her son about his naval service.

If you have information about this quilt, please contact Vicki through the Lost Quilt Come Home Page.
